Exploring North Mallorca

Yesterday we went to the town of Pollença and then on to the penninsula of Formentor.

Pollença is known for the "Way of the Cross," a walk of stairs leading up to the church on top of the hill. The walk is so beautiful and the view from the top is amazing.

So many steps!

We're terrible at selfies, ha!

After a quick stop in Pollença and lunch, we went on to the Formentor Peninsula. The peninsula is at the northeast corner of the island and juts out into the Mediterranean. It's high cliffs make the views just breathtaking! And the hairpin turns so high up are sure heart-stopping. We went out to the very end, where a gorgeous lighthouse is.

In the evening back at home the weather was nice, and we walked out to the beach a stone's throw from our house. We hadn't realized there was a sandy beach here as well as rocks. It's just a paradise here!

Today we went out to the town of Alcúdia. Alcúdia has been ruled by the Phoenicians, the Romans, the Vandals, the Moors, and the Catalans, such a long history! The town is just lovely, with a medieval wall around it and streets of light colored stone.

Sadly, the church and the Roman forum and theater were all closed, but we still enjoyed seeing the town.

We had an awesome lunch in town too. Three courses, including flan for dessert, for €8! Yum yum yum.

The kids actually did great through a nice long lunch.

Whew! All caught up! Now on to more adventures!
